The four reasons I designed yet another greens powder

Why come up with a greens powder when there are so many green powders already on the market? I’ve been thinking about this a lot because the market is, indeed, fairly impacted. 

The truth is, I didn’t have a reason for coming up with Boom! Greens I had lots of reasons. And I think those reasons are what set the BoomVeg greens powder apart from other players. 

Reason #1: Less waste, more movement.

I call this the “farm reason,” and it’s a very important one. BoomVeg powders are made according to our Root-to-Shoot philosophy, which uses every nutritious part of the vegetable — no stem left behind. Rather than harvest one part of a vegetable and ditch the rest, we put the whole veggie to use in our powders, which can be tucked into just about anything, from pasta sauces and smoothies to a simple glass of water. At the same time we trimmed our waste, we also opened up a new income stream that isn’t beholden to the whims of the fresh market. Like we always say, BoomVeg is a project that’s good for the field, and good for the farmer.

Reason #2: Clean greens.

Our greens powders aren’t far superior just because I say so. They’re far superior because they’re validated as safer and purer than any of the competition. BoomVeg powders are organically certified, non-GMO, Kosher and Halal. They include absolutely zero additives, fillers, anti-caking agents or processing aids — a marked difference from other greens powders. We work hard to ensure that BoomVeg powders are the purest possible expression of the vegetable, from seed to shelf.

Reason #3: Increased veg consumption.

In the fresh market business, we talk a lot about the need for people to eat more veggies. “Get consumption up, get consumption up,” is a familiar refrain amongst those who farm, pack and sell produce. For the most part, though, consumption is flat. There might be a one or two percent increase here and there, but certainly not leaps and bounds. We continually harp on the consumer for this, but then I look at myself: I’m up to my eyeballs in vegetables seven days a week, 10-12 hours a day, and even I don’t get enough veg in my diet. Nope, I don’t meet the archaic USDA food pyramid, our historic benchmark, which asks for four to five servings per day. And I’m just short of being spoon-fed vegetables.

If I have that kind of access and still don’t eat my veggies, how can I expect customers to do it? BOOM, the answer: Every teaspoon of BoomVeg powder is the equivalent of two servings of organic vegetables (and nothing else). Add just one teaspoon to yogurt, sauces, marinades or basically anything, and get two veggie servings, no big whoop.

Reason #4: Make it irresistible.

Life moves at a breakneck pace for most of us, myself and my family included. Less folks are willing to break down a head of celery or lettuce, cook it, and sit down to consume it. Whether we like it or not, we want to feed ourselves in ways that are much, much easier. That was also important to me when I first conceived our greens powder.

BoomVeg takes the least amount of time, with the least amount of friction, for someone to get their veggies. As long as someone has water with them, they can get their daily suggested requirement for fruits and vegetables wherever they are, whenever, without having to break their routine.
