About us

About us

Organic, Conventional, and Root-to-Shoot produce

Spinaca Farms grows, packs, and procures both conventional and certified organic produce for the fresh market.

We’ve also launched our Root-to-Shoot program, which leverages our modern food production system by turning beneficial but overlooked parts of our produce into nutrient-rich juices, purees, and powders. These are used in the global functional foods market to boost fresh and frozen foods, baby food, cosmetics and body care, pet food, and more.

Founders

Our history

Over 55 years of farming experience

The Andrade family started in the California dairy industry in the 1920s, and Rick Andrade has been involved in all aspects of vegetable production since the 1970s.

Quality from the beginning

Spinaca Farms was founded by farming veterans Rick and Jeannette Andrade, with a few industry partners, in 2001 on forty acres of virgin farmland in Paso Robles, CA. In 2004, the Andrades brought on their son Zack, fresh with a BS in Agribusiness from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, to expand their operation.

As we gained a reputation for providing professional service and quality produce, Spinaca Farms became a supplier for national brands.

We’ve provided ingredients for Earthbound Farm, Kroger, Safeway, Taylor Farms, Vitacress, Tesco Lotus, Fresh Express / Chiquita, Suja Juice, Langers, Evolution Fresh / Bolthouse Farms, Red Ace Organics, Amy’s Kitchen, Grimmway Farms, Plum Organics, Your Super, Olam, Conagra, Cosmax, Happy Family, and Nestlé.

Acreage with integrity

There are some guiding principles we abide by day in and day out:

Our produce will be fresh, clean, and safe. It will taste good, and be good for you. It will be grown in a sustainable manner, and it will be procured and consolidated in a method that ensures optimal shelf life. And it will be planted, harvested, and delivered by people who are well respected and paid fairly.
